We are excited to launch the 2nd book in our 'Fatherless Like Me' series!

'Fatherless Like Me: Growing Up Without Dad' is the first book of a three part series about a little girl name Skylar. Skylar is a fun loving kid who enjoys riding her rip stick and hanging out with her buddy Monty, and her stuffed animal Ms. Sophie. Skylar seems to have it all, except the one thing she wants and needs the most...her father. Growing up without her dad is tough, but Skylar finds her way by having faith.

In the second book 'Fatherless Like Me Il: Reunited With My Dad' we pick right up from the first book as Skylar anxiously awaits a Christmas visit from her Dad. We follow her journey as she reconnects with him and blossoms into an aspiring teenager. Fatherless Like Me Il: Reunited With My Dad' is an enjoyable and impressive literacy nonfiction book written by a dynamic mother-daughter duo about what it means to grow up without a father.

OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the FLM book series is to help children who are growing up without fathers understand that they are not alone. The book provides a sense of hope and inspiration to other kids that are in the same situation. Secondly, we want to teach children how to acknowledge and handle their emotions surrounding growing up without their dad.

ABOUT US

Tonia and Skylar are a mother-daughter duo who wrote the 'Fatherless Like Me' Book Series together. When they first embarked on this journey to write a book about their life, Skylar was eight years old. The first book, Fatherless Like Me: Growing Up Without Dad was a huge success. They did numerous book readings and signings, as well as tv, radio, and print interviews.

After about a year or so of being in demand Skylar confessed she didn't want to write the next book or make anymore appearances. Skylar was emotionally drained. Tonia was crushed but understood the emotional toll and put her daughter's mental health first. Tonia continued to do the work giving fatherless children a voice and a platform to be heard with the book and her film 'MAN UP'. 11 years later Skylar was ready to finish what her and her mother started. Picking up where they left off in the story with their new E-Book Fatherless Like Me: Reunited With My Dad!

The 'Fatherless Like Me' book series is like nothing you've ever read before. Our books are a snapshot of our real lives. And the storylines are real, all but the Ms. Sophie elements. The books address the very serious and emotional subject of children who grow up without their fathers and the stigma that comes along with it. So we felt like we needed a character to lighten up the book a bit. As it turns out, Ms. Sophie, our colorful Panda bear with the sauciness of all of New Orleans has captured the hearts of our readers. Ms. Sophie is one of our most popular characters in the book series.
